    Hungover, the good kind.....

Went to see The Von Bondies with Louis XIV, The Dragons, and Dirty Sweet. Trevor and I pounded our high life's in my car and went on in. Meet up with Jeff who came down from Barbs and was into checking out the show. For 12.91 who could blame him. We missed Dirty Sweet but got to see the Dragons. These guys are a rock n roll mainstay in San Diego. They've been around forever and their live show is their bread and butter. Just good faced passed rock, didn't slow for a second. In fact the show would not slow down the rest of the night. Two years ago, the guys from local band Convoy were on the verge of breaking it big. They got on a Sharadon commerical and their songs were getting good airplay. But then they suddendly changed to Louis XIV. The album is a concept album about a boy who thinks he is Louis XIV. I've wanted to see these guys for a long time, and I've missed them so many times. By this point I worked my way to the front and suddendly it was round 3 and I had to buy. I was bobbing and (excuse the extremely lame phrase) rocking out like I was fifteen. I was wondering how they would sound live. No worries they were great. I knew their a bunch of songs and they sounded great. One of the best bands San Diego has, if you have a chance to see them, go! Next came the Von Bondies. Louis XIV has their own sound and the songs go at a different pace. The Von Bondies just came out and kicked our ass. It was one of the loudest concerts I've seen. They didn't stop at all until the first encore when they play "Mariread", but even that version was loud. The new record is good, but live they are even better. The set never stopped and the energy was outstanding. I was in front of Carrie Smith (bassist) who was really cute and wish I had a girlfriend that's in a band cause...damn girls who are playing guitar are hot. I cannot wait to see the VB's at Lollapalooza.
