    Ski hats in La Jolla

Information Leafblower has a great thing he does every year called, The Top 40 bands in America. Pretty simple concept, even though I don't agree with a lot of. But that's not the point. The point is that Spoon was high on the list along side another favorite The Decemberists. Well that was a pointless introduction in where I wanted to tell you that I went to see Spoon on Friday night @ Cane's in Pacific Beach. They have probably been the band that I have enjoyed the most this year. Taylor got me into them and it's usually the other way around with bands. Well "indie" or whatever buzz word you want to use, he hooks me up with hip hop records and without him I would lose my connection to the streets. Word. I'm rambling, I'm sorry.

The show was great, with Spoon playing for about an 2 1/2 hours! It was their last show of the tour and were in great spirits. The crowd was really into as well. San Diego crowds can be very quiet and...well boring at times. But this one was in it from the start. They stuck (sans one or two songs) to Gimme Fiction, Girls Can Tell, and Kill the Moonlight. They goofed my favorite Spoon song ever ("This Delicate Place") but it was still good. It's hard to recreate that odd solo in the song. Other highlights included: "Sister Jack", "Chicago at Night", "Jonathan Fisk", and "Small Stakes." Great show from a great band. Ask Taylor, he'll tell you the same.

On Saturday Jammie and I went down to La Jolla, to the Morrison Hotel Art Gallery. It shows images from the past 30 years of Rock n Roll mainly classic rock. This month they had photos from Bowie's official photographer (whose name escapes me at the moment) They had some great pictures from through out the years. Only the photo of the Killers made me throw up in my mouth a little. I was happy to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on the wall much to the shagrin of Jammie. Their was this amazing photo of Bob Dylan holding his guitar, smiling in the sun. I would of bought it for Jammie (who loved it) if not for the $800 price tag (w/o the frame, damn)After the gallery we ate a crappy place called The Spot. Well it's definatly NOT the Spot, so don't go there. I will not even bother to go any further on that. On our way back to the car we stopped in and out of a few shops. I found this awesome jacket at the Armani Exchange which unfortunatly was $250 dollars. Everything else was for metrosexuals which I secretly think Jammie wants me to be sometimes. Jammie in the meantime tried on some big puffy hats. Don't believe me?

    She's so cute.
