I have been very lucky over the past few years to see many of my favorite bands. I'm not tooting my horn or anything, but if I would of gone to less shows I probably would have a band account that would be double than what it is now. Everyone has that act that they love but have never had a chance to see for one reason or another. Tuesday night I finally got to see a set by DJ Shadow.
Now you have to understand that John and I considered Shadow a god when we first got out of high school. Right around the time we started to smoke mass amounts of stuff at wee hours of the night. His music had a an almost mythic quality to it. So on Tuesday (along with Essence) we went to the House of Blues downtown to check it out. The HOB wa alot smaller than I thought it would be. It wasn't a bad place, but I'm not thrilled with it. Maybe it was the $5 Bud...for a can of it!
Expensive drinks aside, Shadow's set was really good I could of done without the hypy portion of the set. If you don't know what hypy is then good. You don't want to know. But when the hits came, man the place went off. The highlights for me were "Ugly Organ" and some new track that he said "I started working on last night." Now Led Zeppelin, Jimi, and Rage Against The Machine need to tour.
Fin.
