Remember Wayne Coyne said that SoCo WANTS you to smoke pot during their events!

So the Southern Comfort Music Experiance happened on Saturday day/night. It was free but with a little price that your had to still pay. Oh like say...your fucking soul. Before you were allowed in they took your ID and scanned it through their little soul sucking machine. I really didn't want to give it to them, but I did want to see The Flaming Lips. One soul for a Flaming Lips show...not too bad I guess.

Soul sucking aside, it was a pretty fun time. It was warm but not that bad at all. I think I was overwhemingly hot for about 5 minutes. Black Rebel Motorcylce Club was loud and good. Their new songs sounded great even though they flubbed the intro on a few on them. They also talked more then I have ever heard on stage. I think they might of broken the 10 sentence mark! The KneeHighs were fun, but it was warm and friends were in the shade. Z-Trip was waaaaay to long. I saw him years ago, and it was basically the same thing. He was better when everyone wasn't doing mash-ups. I guess he was one of the first doing the mash-up thing so thanks. Or maybe not.

Jammie and I only watched a little of Scarlet Symphony because we wanted to meet up with others for the Flaming Lips. From what I heard, Scarlet Symphony killed it. A Les Paul was broken, and security had to break it up. Dancing Todd was there too. The Lips was great as usual. Their show's are kiiinda the same format, but if it ain't broke, why fix it. It's always fun with ballons, lights, screamers, confetti, and of course i-wish-he-was-my-uncle Wayne Coyne. Nice little way to close out Summer.

You know I really like events and things are produced by regular people w/o the use of corporate means. DIY yadda yadda. But I must give kudos to SoCo (aside from the Soul Sucking) for a really great event. They kept it free, didn't censor the bands, and worked with smaller local companies. It was nice seeing CityBEAT and M-Theory Records being mentioned in the same breath as Bud and SoCo. Drinks were resonable, you could go in/out and they didn't frisk you. This was how massive corporate music things like this should be dealt with. Kudos SoCO.* Wow bet you haven't read a concert review like this ever. So informative and original. This is why I rarley do these.

    Fin.
