You know best of lists of everything is always pointless. How can you experiance everything in the world to say something is the best of anything. That being said people do it anyway. Espeically in the blog world. I'm going to do the boring abligtory best of music list. Their more like favorites. In fact I didn't listen to a whole lot of music that was made this year. I want to make a few wacky best of lists later on this month. Cause I really want to get Crest Baking Soda Whitening toothpaste on a year end list. Blue is the best one. Here are my favorites:
Hey men. The best that I found this year was from women. Good job Women!
{{{Favorite Songs}}}
Sharong Jones and The Dap KingsHow Long Do I Have To Wait (Teklah Remix)
Sure it came off a Scion promo CD, but damn is this the jam. My friend Chris says Sharon Jones sings like she has a chip on her shoulder. "Like she is singing to make her next paycheck." Well put.
MIA- Paper Planes
The best single of '07 in my humble opinion. Everybody loved it. Look it up, it's been said.
Mika Miko- Take Hold
Oh MM! Where did you ladies come from? Read about you guys on Cat Dirt and then boom I listen to this song. From the opening chords, it's a buzzsaw that doesn't stop. It's punk, it's wierd, sounds familiar but really fresh too. Plus one of you gals is a Dodger fan. That always gets points.
So my friends don't attack my manhood, here is an artist with a penis...
Jay Z- Roc Boys
/First of all I'd like to thank my connect/the most important person with all due repect/ No one is more polarizing than Jay Z in hip hop. I'm finally opening up to HOV. It's a great single from his stong new LP.
{{{Albums}}}
1.MIA- KALA
The freshest, dopest, tightest, sweetest, loudest, off the wall, thing that came out this year. Africa is the new Dirty South.
2.GOP- Humanimals
While that album title makes me cringe everytime I type it, it was worth the wait for it. Grand Ole Party was the best band from San Deigo this year (and probably last) and saw the world with Rilo Kiley. I'm proud of them. It's like seeing a little rock baby grow up in front you. Remember them at the Ivy House with The Muslims? No? Should of been there.
3.Talib Kwali/Madlib- Liberation
Who knew a free, short teaser album from these guys would be my favorite hip hop I heard all year? Talib sound confindent and fresh. Madlib is Madlib. Genius.
Better lists to come.
Fin.
