    ESPNFL

After the Ravens/Patriots game a few months ago I joked that it was all a big conspiracy. Well now I really think it's a conspiracy. I'm not one of those kind of conspiracy people either. Conspiracy theorist I believe. Now I think it's impossible to rig an entire game. But things can be done at key points. I don't like to write about sports to much here because most things sports talk related are completely redundant and really loud. But I think this whole Spygate Part II thing is bringing up some very good questions. Why did the NFL destroy the tapes seized from the Patriots? How come the NFL didn't interview Matt Walsh, former #3 (out of 3) in the Pats video department, who claims to have more tapes?

Now Roger Godell (the commish for you non-fans) has to go before Congress. I always thought that Congress getting involved in sports was a big waste of both parties time. But ESPN.com's Gregg Easterbrook makes a valid point on Sunday:

"Think Congress has no business investigating sports? Most NFL teams play in publicly subsidized stadiums, and NFL games are aired over public airwaves controlled by federal licenses. The licenses, among other things, prohibit any pre-arrangement or artifice in what is presented as live competition."

ESPN.com has some good stories, from writers who are not ready to massage the Patriots ego every chance they get. Get some of these guys on the air (as well as more Greg Anthony and Eric Allen) instead of Chris Berman. You went to Brown? No way I never heard that before. Don't even get me started on the NFL and the whole debacle with retired players. See? Sports writing can be smart, funny, and though provoking. So in Conclusion...

FUCK THE FUCKING PATRIOTS! THE SPIRIT OF '72 LIVES ON! MERCURY, BOB, DON, PETER AND THE REST OF THE GANG, POP THOSE BOTTLES. FUCK PAT-NATION! COCKY FUCKS.
