    Agenda

Show's much? With school and work, haven't had time for much of anything. Here are brief sparks of life I have purchased early in advance.

John Reis's new band. I'm a Swami nerd.
03.19.08 Vampire Weekend w/ The Sess, Wild Weekend @ The Casbah
I saw Vampire Weekend last month half way through their set opening for Grand Ole Party. I haven't seen an opening band in a really long time grab my attention like they did. Their songs are ebola virus catchy. This show will sell out sooner than later. Don't sleep.

Grand Ole Party, Vampire Weekend, Fantastic Magic @ The Casbah (12.02.07)

This really isnt' a review. I've seen GOP plenty of times, and you've heard me ramble on and on about them for the past year (or at least my friends have) It was a great night at the Casbah. I can't believe I didn't like it the first few times I went years ago. What was wrong with me? We missed Fantastic Magic, but we caught Vampire Weekend. They were dangerously catchy.

Kristin from GOP was sick and lost her voice a few times, but nobody cared. She kept aplogizing and we kept cheering. A sick GOP is still better than most bands out there. They killed it. We loved it. It was a great night with friends playing pool until we got the hint that the Casbah employees wanted us out of there. I also got the pleasure of meeting Rosey from SD Dailed In. She was nice and made me feel like we were friends for years. Go read her blog if you don't already. So if Rosey somehow finds this it was great to meet you.

    Only in San Diego...

Went to the SD House Parties Rivals! bash last night in Banker's Hill. I really had no idea what to expect. I just knew that Grand Ole Party and The Muslims were playing in a basement. It was in a nice quiet part of town. Well except for the jet's flying 20 feet about the place.

The Muslims went on around 10:30 and the place was not as full as I thought it would be. But by the time GOP went on at midnight the place was packed to the brims. The 800 square foot "basement" was hot, very packed, and very fun. Sure it is a huge fire hazard, but ou gotta take risks to get rewards. The Muslims killed it. It was not too packed so I could see them. The best part was when the lead singer (Matt I think) took a puff of a joint that was going around in front,in the middle of a solo. So rock 'n roll.

GOP was way too packed to see. The sound was acutally pretty good for a basement party. People were having fun and that's what were all there for. Kudos to the gals at SD House Parties. Everyone who put the event on were super nice and welcoming. It felt like were invited personally. This can only happen in San Diego. NY,LA, and SF ain't got nothing on this. Our scene is blowing up and SD House Parites is helping establish some SD music culture. Let's go to the next one!
