the city with out the "smell"

    SOLD OUT.

That's what the door of the Casbah said last night. Sold fucking out. So the mighty Casbah has eluded me once again. I guess Metric has a following here in the San Diego area. I'm now thinking twice about getting tickets ahead of time for the Album Leaf next Friday. So out Trevor, Cari, and I decided to go all the way downtown. As we passed the House of Blues, I forgot that Black Star was playing the same night. Taylor and I wanted to go, but tickets were $40 and I already spent money on Broken Social Scene tickets. But that didn't matter last night when we were outside the HOB. The sight of the crowd erased all the clamps on my wallet that help control my spending. But the Black Star show was sold out aswell. So we walked around the Gaslamp and had a few drinks. We people watched and made a trek into Urban Outfitters for some reason. I got sucked up into a book about spliffs and hippies. After we wasted too many minutes in that store we got to a crossroads. Either stay in the Gaslamp and well you know...do what you do when your down there. Or two, just go home because we didn't want to spend the money.

Alas, the Gaslamp is too expensive and we were only expecting to spend $12 for Metric and a few more for some drinks. Trevor and Cari went home and I picked up Jammie from a friends house but hung out for a bit. They were having a rolling good time and I fell into a haze listening to an old My Morning Jacket record that I had never heard. A night that kind of busted, but was not bad at all. I'll get another chance with The Album Leaf on Friday.
