So I was finally able to visit the mecca of uber-hipsterville in San Diego last night. That mecca would be the Casbah. I always wanted to go the Casbah when I wasn't 21. So many great bands that were up and coming would hit the joint on their way through San Diego. But I still never got a chance to check the place out. Sure their were plenty of bands that I wanted to see play, but most of the time I couldn't find any body else to go with. Anyways, The Album Leaf was great and the Casbah is a pretty cool place. It's almost like a converted garage and apartment with pool tables. Actually I think that's what it is exactly. I left the place about 1:00 am because of the drive I had to make home. It was too late to go back to John's place in Mission Valley and I was too tired and was dressed way to heavly for that place. Too many layers. So I guess I'll chalk that up to Casbah inexperience.
I really enjoyed hanging out with John and Essence and we had some varied conversations. From making fun of the crappy (and incoherent) opening bands, to admitting that's it's ok to watch Laguna Beach (this may warrent it's own post in the future...will see) The best thing I caught from those two was their conversation on who is the best looking DJ in the electronica world. Went sort like this:
"Your killing me John."
"No it's not whose is the best looking DJ...Nick and I one day said that all DJ's are ugly. But Sasha is not as ugly as some of them."
"uh...ya. Sure"
Then we went on to make fun of BT's teeth. Off to grab some lunch and then figure out how the heck me and Trevor are going to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. Did I just use "heck?"
