    The Kids might be alright.

I was driving to school today listening to NPR...They had Mark Kurlansky (who wrote the book, 1968: The Year That Rocked The World)talking about well...how 1968 changed the world. After Nixon, and the deaths of RFK and Dr. King amoung other things, anti-establisment ideals in this country took a turn for the worst. We elected an actor for President and tripled our consumtion of everything which hasn't stopped to this day. It got me thinking about my generation and the times with live in now. It seems that everyone is too busy doing meaningless things to pay enough attention to anything important (much less do anything about it). I'm guilty of this aswell. So when I was walking to the library today, it warmed my heart to see a couple of freshmen sitting in front of the US Army Hummer parked in front of the Student Union. They come every few months trying to round up some suckers who think school is a waste of time.

The guys had signs that said "Education not militarization" They were having a quiet conversation with a solider who was most likely trying to get them to leave with out actually picking them up and causing a scene. I walked by and patted one of the guys on the back and told them "good job." The soldier gave me a dirty look and resumed talking to the guys. Nobody around seemed to care, which was no suprise. It was a perfect microcasam (spelling?) of the American mindset right now.

    Fin.
